(AP) -- Officials plan to begin questioning inmates about a disturbance that forced the lockdown of a South Carolina prison.
The State reported that Corrections Department officials planned to begin questioning inmates Monday about the fight at Lee Correctional Institution in Bishopville.
Officers used tear gas to quell a fight involving up to 60 prisoners Saturday afternoon.
Prison spokesman Josh Gelinas says two prison guards unable to stop the fight threw tear gas canisters into the building and then locked the door to the building. He says the fighting subsided within 10 minutes.
Authorities entered the building Saturday night and found that several inmates had suffered minor injuries. No guards were hurt.
The maximum security prison houses 1,750 inmates.
