SUMMARY: A 17-year-old Myrtle Beach man died Sunday morning in a car accident that went undiscovered for more than four hours.

A mangled Honda Accord sat concealed on the fringe of a field for more than four hours before authorities discovered the wreckage in which a 17-year-old laid dead.

SC Highway Patrol troopers said the 2005 Accord was traveling on Juniper Bay Road around 3:30 a.m. Sunday when its driver ran a stop sign at the intersection of Highway 378 -- just about a mile west of Conway.

From there the Honda barreled across 378 and through a yard opposite Juniper Bay Road. The car plowed over several bushes, hit a tree and flipped before coming to a rest in a field just beyond the yard's perimeter.

It wasn't until 7:41 a.m. when someone noticed the wreck and called the SC Highway Patrol, said Cpl. Paul Brothers. Brothers said the first trooper arrived on scene 16 minutes later at 7:57.

They soon discovered 17-year-old Patrick Wayne McNeese who had died and another young man who was badly hurt. Highway Patrol has not released the other man's name.

Neighbors around the scene said Sunday afternoon the man who was hurt crawled to a nearby convenience store and attempted to call for help, but Highway Patrol could not confirm that. However, police tape did drape the pay phone at the convenience store.

An autopsy will be performed on McNeese Monday morning, said Tony Hendrick with the Horry County Coroner's Office.

Highway patrol is investigating the cause of the crash and also to determine who was driving.

Another accident in Horry County claimed the life a 30 year old man Saturday night.

SC Highway Patrol Roy Kenneth Jenkins from Nichols died on Mount Olive Church Road in Horry County.

Troopers say Jenkins ran off the road, overcorrected, then hit a tree. He died on the scene.
