CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) -- A memorial is scheduled for a college student from New Jersey who died last month and had a form of meningitis.
Officials at Clemson University say a service for Danielle Rae Fleming is being held Thursday afternoon at Military Heritage Plaza.
Fleming was a 20-year-old rising junior studying mathematical sciences from Glen Ridge, N.J. She had been staying at a local hotel with her family and died at a hospital.
Lab tests showed she had bacterial meningitis.
After her death, the Department of Health and Environmental Control sent investigators to talk with people who may have been in contact with Fleming to determine who may need preventative treatment.
