There are some changes to South Carolina's Largest Garage Sale this year.
The event will be held at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center this Saturday, September 12th, and the city no longer plans to charge $2 for parking.
Instead, parking at the Convention Center will be free to all visitors on sale day. Admission to the Garage Sale also is free.
This is the big sale's 21st year, but its first year at the Convention Center. Previously, the sale had been held in the Pavilion Parking Garage. However, engineers who were asked about the possibility of holding entertainment events on the parking garage's top floor reported that the parking deck was not built for "live" loads.
As of Wednesday morning, fewer than 50 spaces remained for people who have items to sell. That means that more than 230 spaces have already been claimed. Anyone interested in a space may register on-line by clicking here or by calling Cathie Porter at 918-1235.
The Garage Sale's hours are 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., this Saturday, September 12.
