For some, the only way they got a meal Saturday night was by standing under a hot sun at a food bank Saturday afternoon -- and there were hundreds who did so.
United Way of Horry County held another mass food distribution Saturday, this time at christ the Servant Lutheran Church in Conway.
Several charitable groups, and Food Lion, have come together through a federal grant to put on these food drives.
Folks were able to get enough food to last a few days.
"It's going to help a lot of people," predicted Guy MacBay who picked up food at the event for his family, "just to know they got something to put on the table. When things are tough, sometimes just getting through the next day is a hard thing right? I just hope work picks up a little bitt around here," he continued.
The next food distribution will be Saturday, September 26 in Myrtle Beach at the Grand Strand Senior Center. Anyone is welcome to attend.
