Local car dealers are expected to be busy this weekend. That's because the government announced Friday that it would end its Cash for Clunkers program effective 8:00pm Monday.

The Obama Administration says the popular promotion will end after burning through $3 billion in just a single month.

Much of the rebate money has been fronted by dealers and many of them have complained of slow reimbursements from the government.

In a report released earlier this week, the South Carolina Automobile Dealers Association says there have been 2,331 Cash for Clunker transactions.

Just one and a half percent of those have been approved by the federal government.

That leaves an estimated $9 million dollars in unpaid vouchers for the 114 South Carolina dealers who responded to the survey.
