COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- The South Carolina Education Department plans to release the tally on college scholarships earned by the class of 2009.
Last year's public high school seniors earned a record $767 million in scholarships.
State schools chief Jim Rex will announce the results on Wednesday.
The total includes scholarships not accepted by students. It represents all scholarships offered to students as they considered which college to attend, including academic, athletic, private and lottery-backed awards.
It is the seventh year the agency has gathered the statistics from local districts.
