Stuffing a school bus with school supplies was the goal in Surfside Beach Saturday. The Back to School Stuff the Bus drive at the Wal-Mart in Surfside Beach is where scores of people from the community came out and to donate what school supplies they could.
The supplies will go to foster children in Horry and Georgetown counties who have emotional disabilities and special needs.
"This state does not have a lot of programs that can pay for these kind of of items. We rely on the community's help for this kind of stuff," said Stephanie Olson, a volunteer at the event.
Event organizers say there's always a need for foster parents.
Specialized Foster Home Services, Special Kid Program and the Seacost Youth Academy -- as well as the help of all those who donated -- made Saturday's event possible.
