MARINE CORPS AIR STATION BEAUFORT, S.C. (AP) -- The 200 Marines and sailors of Fighter Attack Squadron 224 at a South Carolina Marine Corps air station are getting a new commander.
Lt. Col. Benjamin Clatterbuck will relinquish command of the F/A-18 fighter squadron to Col. Joseph Maybach in a special ceremony on Friday at Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort.
Clatterbuck will report to MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, Fla., for his next assignment. Clatterbuck led the squadron - dubbed the Bengals - on a seven-month deployment to the western Pacific.
Maybach last served as the safety and standardization director for Marine Aircraft Group 31.
Group 31 is composed of the six F/A-18 Hornet jet squadrons, an aviation and logistic squadron and a headquarters unit at the air station.
