Cause determined in Horry County house fire

Fire destroyed one home and a mini van and damaged two others Monday.

Horry County Fire Rescue has found out how a fire started at a house near the Myrtle Beach International Airport.

Fire officials say it was caused by a malfunction in a space heater.

The fire started around 9 a.m. Monday, on Leaf Terrace off Highway 17 Bypass.

The fire destroyed the home and a minivan and also damaged two other homes nearby.

One person was injured and taken to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center.

The American Red Cross is helping the families affected.
