More rain and storms heading our way

After a brief break from the rain Sunday, more rain and storms are heading to the Grand Strand and the Pee Dee.

A storm system producing a massive blizzard in parts of Texas and Oklahoma will move toward the Great Lakes through midweek.

The circulation around that system will draw plenty of moisture from the Gulf of Mexico northward into our area over the next 24 hours.

While spotty light rain and drizzle are possible Monday evening, the main event, or widespread rain, won't arrive until after midnight. Rain will continue through Tuesday morning.

From late Tuesday morning and into the afternoon, a warm front will move through the area.

South of the front, the air will become unstable, especially near the coast. Unstable air combined with wind shear may produce a few strong to severe storms capable of damaging winds in excess of 60 mph.

The tornado threat is low, but not zero. Any threat for severe weather will end by sunset.

While the chances of severe weather are very small, it is highly likely the entire area will get an additional 1" - 2" of rain.

Skies will clear Tuesday night and the rest of the week looks dry and progressively cooler.
