Georgetown County sheriff's deputies arrested Willie James Edwards, Jr., 32, and David Leland Yelton, 26, both of Pawleys Island, for heroin related charges.

Around 1 a.m. Thursday morning, deputies came up on a car on Stevenson Road that rolled through a stop sign and had an expired tag.

Deputies stopped the car and say Edwards had 17 bags of what is believed to be heroin. Edwards struggled with deputies, but was eventually taken into custody, according to Carrie Cuthbertson, a sheriff's office spokesperson.

A search of the car also revealed what deputies say is a small baggy of what is believed to be heroin (0.5 g). They say Yelton claimed it was his.

Edwards is charged with Trafficking Heroin and Resisting Arrest.

Yelton is charged with Possession of Heroin.
