The United States Air Force Thunderbirds will headline the Myrtle Beach air show on June 28-30, Palmetto Event Productions announced in a press conference Wednesday with local leaders.

The air show, which will be free for the public, will feature seven hours of performances over the new boardwalk in downtown Myrtle Beach.

Along with performances by the team officially known as the U.S. Air Force Air Demonstation Squadron, attendees will enjoy demonstrations by the AeroShell Aerobatic Team, Mike Lucas-Lucas Oil Air show, Raiders Aerobatic Team, the Fowler Cary T33 Jet and the All Veteran Parachute Team.

"The air show will be the first air show for the destination since 2006, and what better way to commemorate the beginning of the Independence Day holiday and festivities than with an air show featuring the world class Thunderbirds," Myrtle Beach Mayor John Rhodes said.

The Myrtle Beach air show is a community partnership between Air Boss Inc., the City of Myrtle Beach, Horry County government, Horry County department of Airports and the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce.

The Myrtle Beach International Airport is the host airport for the Myrtle Beach air show.
