CONWAY, S.C. (WPDE) - Judge Edward Cottingham sentenced Ricky Mazique of Dillon to 25 years in prison for robbing a Kangaroo convenience store in Conway in 2011.
Friday, an Horry County County jury found Mazique guilty of Armed Robbery, according to a press release by Solicitor Greg Hembree.
On September 29, 2011 Mazique entered a Kangaroo Convenience store in Conway with a semi-automatic pistol. Hembree said he pointed a loaded gun at the cashier and demanded cartons of cigarettes.
Mazique was later apprehended and confessed to the crime.
Mazique had prior convictions of Robbery, Theft, multiple Batteries, and Intent to Distribute Crack Cocaine. His criminal record dates back to 1984, according to Hembree.
