Local firefighters and their friends spared some time Friday to raise money.
About 100 people spent the day bowling at Waccamaw Lanes in Horry County to raise money for the Horry County Firefighter Relief Fund. Each paid $20, which will be used to help firefighters and their families in a time of need.
"There is a need for it, for more personal assistance. If someone's car breaks down and they need their transmission worked on, they can't get to work," said Marie Rimm, the event's organizer.
From car parts to medical bills, the relief fund is used in a variety of ways.
