Thanks to your votes, the Florence County Disabilities Foundation received a Spirit Award and $5,000.

The foundation was one of 10 finalists for the BB&T Lighthouse Project.

The voting ended Sunday at midnight on the Lighthouse Project's Facebook page, and despite a last minute surge by an organization in Kansas, the foundation won by more than 250 votes.

The Florence County Disabilities Foundation was the only local organization up for the award. The foundation serves more than 1,000 individuals with disabilities and special needs.
