One dead, two injured in single car crash

A driver of a car died and two passengers were sent to the hospital after a single car crash in Horry County early Saturday morning.

Around 2:30 a.m., Phillip Burnette, 27, of Myrtle Beach crashed a 2001 BMW SUV on Highway 544 near the Carolina Lakes neighborhood.

He died on scene as a result of multiple trauma, Horry County Deputy Coroner Darris Fowler said.

His car was traveling north on Highway 544 lost control, began to roll, then struck a power line guide wire, continued to roll and struck a tree, according to South Carolina Highway Patrol.

Burnette was wearing seatbelt.

The passengers were sent to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center for treatment.
