The Sumter Police Department is actively searching for Markice Hunter, 21, in connection with the sexual assault of a 12-year-old girl.
The victim's mother reported to police that Hunter, an acquaintance of the family, had sexually assaulted her daughter in March 2012.
Sumter Police have obtained an arrest warrant for Hunter charging him with Criminal Sexual Conduct with a Minor 2nd Degree. Hunter is known to be transient, staying at different locations in Sumter County and also has connections in Newark, New Jersey.
