A Darlington man who received a heart transplant, met the mother of the young man who in death, gave him a second chance at life. Now that young man, whose gift saved four lives, will be honored at the annual Rose Parade on New Year's Day in Pasadena, CA.

Nine months after her son, Maralieus Birdsong, was murdered, Teresa Gardner felt her son's heart beat again. Timothy Jordan from Darlington received a heart transplant from Maralieus in March.

Maralieus died on March 10th after he was shot the night before while delivering pizzas.

"I know I wanted to meet the family that gave me life again," said Jordan.

On Monday in Charleston, they got that chance. Timothy met Teresa as part of the organizing of the float for the Rose Parade to honor organ donors.

Maralieus will be one of 72 people honored through an artistic floral portrait, known as a floragraph, that will be featured on the Rose Bowl Parade float. He's only the fifth South Carolinian to be honored in this way.
