Friday night about 9:30 p.m., a pedestrian who was walking in the road illegally in Williamsburg County was hit and killed by a Chevy Tahoe, according to Lance Corporal Sonny Collins with the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

Collins says the Tahoe was going east on Highway 261, just outside of Hemingway, when it hit the pedestrian.

The driver of the Tahoe was not hurt and will not be charged.

The incident remains under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
