The Scott Safety World Challenge wont be returning to Myrtle Beach for its annual competition, taking more than $2 million with it.

The worldwide competition has completed its three-year rotation plan in the city, and is headed to Las Vegas in 2013, according to Jennifer Asalon with the Scott Safety World Challenge.

The week-long challenge pits more than 30 teams against each other that includes nearly 700 firefighters. While the challenge brought an international competition, it also brought an international audience. The economic impact is estimated at $2.2 million direct tourism dollars for Myrtle Beach, according to city spokesman Mark Kruea. "It's a national competition, so it's not unusual for them to move around," said Kruea.

There aren't any plans for regional competitions to be held in Myrtle Beach next year either, but the competitions could return to the Grand Strand in 2014 or 2015, according to Asalon.

Myrtle Beach has hosted the challenge at Broadway at the Beach for the past three years.
