The first day of the bear hunting season starts Saturday for Horry, Georgetown and Williamsburg counties.

The season runs from December 1st to the 15th.

Only ten permits are issued to hunters in each of the three counties.

The season was brought back to the coast last year for the first time in 50 years because of the growing bear population.

Hunters cannot use dogs and can only shoot bears that weigh more than 100 lbs.
