The key to a guilt-free Thanksgiving for hundreds of people was an early morning run in Surfside Beach.

More than 1300 people were expected to run in Thursday morning's Turkey Trot.

The event featured a 10k, 5k, 1 mile and a free Hot Trot for the kids.

Part of the money raised goes back to the community.

"We're working with Surfside Rotary Club so proceeds go to them. It's just a way to showcase Surfside Beach, watch the sun come up on Thanksgiving morning, be able to eat more turkey later and just the feeling of community and family getting together," said Race Director Mike Shank.

This was the third annual Turkey Trot in Surfside Beach.
