A powerful line of storms moved through the area between 1 p.m. - 7 p.m. Saturday producing heavy rain, lightning, damaging winds, large hail and even a few tornadoes.  We're investigating damage from three possible tornadoes. One in Little Rock in Dillon county, one in Rowland in Robeson county and one in Andrews in Georgetown county.

The hardest hit community appears to be Rowland.  NewsChannel 15 reporter Tonya Brown reports there is extensive structural damage through out the town, power is out and the Chief of Police, John Reeves, is not allowing non-residents into the town.

The same tornado in Rowland may have also touched down in Little Rock destroying one building and knocking trees into homes.  One tree fell on top of a house injuring three.

Emergency management in Georgetown county reported a possible tornado near Andrews that tossed boats into yards and knocked down numerous trees.

Elsewhere, there were scattered reports of strong winds that knocked down trees and powerlines. Golf ball size hail was reports in some areas as well.

We were very fortunate given how many tornadoes touched down in central and eastern North Carolina.  Some were very strong and on the ground for a long time producing significant damage and deaths.
