About ten people living at Pee Dee Gardens on West Palmetto Street are displaced after high temperatures in the attic set off a fire alarm and sprinklers Saturday afternoon.

Capt. Anthony Fox with West Florence Fire Department says firefighters had to shut down the sprinkler system, but about 1,000 gallons of water filled the residential area before the water was shut off. One half of a residential wing was damaged by water.

Fox adds a sprinkler head was "inappropriately rated."
