The Horry County Firefighters Relief Fund held its annual bowling tournament fundraiser Friday at Waccamaw Bowling Center.

The money is used to help firefighters who fall on hard times, like getting sick or needing repairs to their homes.

"Especially when the time comes when you have nothing else. You have nothing to do but you gotta keep your lights on and you have a family, but you're ill or you're sick and you're working on the job. It's the only thing you got. You make a phone call," Lavon Bellamy with Horry County Fire Rescue said.

Bellamy has worked with Horry County Fire Rescue for 10 years.

He relied on the relief fund when he needed medical treatment.
