MYRTLE BEACH -- Although Sandy will pass far to our east, the storm is churning up the ocean's surf, and that has die hard shell-seekers, surfers and sigtseers heading to the beach.

Storms off the coast often dump more and different kinds of shells, as well as stirring up sharks teeth.

In Myrtle Beach Saturday morning, we found people out with bags ready to be filled with shells and people taking pictures of the storm that is expected to have a major impact on our neighbors to the north in the days to come.

We found surfers out near the Pawleys Island Pier and the north end of Myrtle Beach.

As far as how Sandy will impact us, you can read a detailed account by Chief Meterologist Ed Piotrowski here.
