While you're out having fun this St. Patrick's Day weekend, Myrtle Beach police want to make sure you're safe. They'll have extra officers on the roads for a "Driving Under the Influence Crackdown" this weekend.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 700 people were killed nationwide in crashes involving drunk drivers on St. Patrick's Day between 2006 and 2010.

Police want you to think ahead and not put your life or anyone else's in danger.

"Just pre-plan. If you're planning on going out and celebrating St. Patrick's day and you plan on drinking, arrange for safe transportation," said Corporal Shannon Toole with the Myrtle Beach Police Department.
