A 15-year-old was sentenced Friday to nine months probation for making a bomb threat at Myrtle Beach High School on January 16, according to Mike Freeman with the 15th Circuit Solicitor's Office.

The teen will have to meet the terms of his probation period and if not, he will be sent to the Department of Juvenile Justice for an indeterminate period not to exceed his 21st birthday.

He has been held at a secured facility with the Department of Juvenile Justice since January 29.

Police had charged the boy with Conveying False Information Regarding the Attempted Use of a Destructive Device. His charge was lessened to Disturbing Schools in exchange for his guilty plea.
