Thomas Williams, Jr., 39, is charged with Attempted Murder after police say he shot his 22-year-old live-in girlfriend in the back at their apartment on Third Loop Road in Florence Friday morning.
Officers say the woman ran out of the apartment screaming and looking for help. Williams then came out of the apartment, got in his car, put her in the back seat and proceeded to drive away.
At this time neighbors had already called 911.
Police spotted Williams' car as he was trying to pull out of the parking lot at the apartment complex. They stopped him and found his girlfriend in the back seat covered in blood and in pain.
EMS took her to the hospital. Her condition is not being released.
Williams was is being held at the Florence County Detention Center.
The investigation is ongoing.
