The Horry County police department is warning residents of a scam in Horry County.
The scammers are using Craigslist to find their victims.
On the site, they identify themselves as a being with a business called Hand to Hand in Charlotte, North Carolina. They offer people an opportunity to make money from home by receiving packages from them and then paying to ship the packages overseas.
People who have been scammed were never paid a promised salary or reimbursed for the shipping.
In an investigation of the scam, it was learned that the packages were purchased with a stolen credit card.
Detectives with the Horry County Police Department's property crimes section are still investigating.
They have discovered that Hand to Hand LLC does not exist at the address listed in Charlotte, North Carolina.
