A high speed chase that started in Sumter County finally came to a halt in Florence County Saturday evening. Officials say Antonio Weldon Morrisey of Eastover, North Carolina is the person they were pursuing.
Highway Patrol charged Morrisey, 25, with reckless driving, possesion of a stolen vehicle, no South Carolina drivers license, hit and run with property damage, and failure to stop for a blue light, according to LCpl. Sonny Collins.
Florence County deputies got involved as the chase approached Florence, according to Capt. Michael Nunn with the Florence County Sheriff's Office.
At some point, Nunn said, a Florence County deputy wrecked his patrol car.
He added the officer's car didn't make contact with Morrisey's car.
The deputy wasn't injured.
Morrisey hit a vehicle and ran into a fence at the intersection of Harrington Drive and McCurdy Road just past the Florence Regional Airport, according to Nunn.
The driver of the car he hit was taken to the hospital for minor injuries.
Morrisey is being held at the Florence County Detention Center. He's facing similar charges in Clarendon County for a similar incident a couple days ago, added Collins.
