Authorities are looking for a South Carolina inmate they say walked away from a coastal pre-release center in Charleston.

South Carolina corrections spokesman Clark Newsom said late Thursday that 21-year-old Travis Hammet was reported missing after the facility's 9:30 p.m. inmate count. Newsom said Hammet was serving time for a second-degree burglary conviction.

The burglary offense happened in Charleston County according to the South Carolina Department of Corrections website.

Hammet is up for parole this year and was to have served his maximum sentence by 2015.

Authorities ask that anyone with information call (803) 896-2258.
