A body found floating in the Lumber River at Second Street Bridge in Lumberton Monday has been identified as Edward Oxendine, Jr., 21.

A boater spotted the body Monday and called Lumberton police.

The autopsy didn't reveal any trauma to Oxendine's body, and his death has been ruled a drowning, according to Captain Terry Parker with Lumberton police.

Oxendine was reported missing on January 17.

Parker says he was last seen walking from his girlfriend's home on River Brooke Lane in Lumberton.

Detectives are now trying to determine how Oxendine ended up in the river.
