Williamsburg County Sheriff Michael Johnson says they got a call about 1 p.m. Sunday from Georgetown County deputies in reference to a note found at a suicide.

The note led them to a burned home on Sleepy Prong Road in the Andrews community, Sheriff Johnson says.

They found a body burned beyond recognition inside the house, Johnson says.

They believe the body is that of a man.

There is no cause of death, but they are treating the fire as a homicide.

An autopsy has been performed. Deputies are waiting for the results.

The State Law Enforcement Division has been called in to help in the investigation.
