Markice Hunter was apprehended by officers with the United States Marshal's Fugitive Task Force.
Hunter was wanted by the Sumter police department for sexually assaulting the daughter of a female acquaintance in March 2012.
Sumter police had been searching for Hunter and believed that he was purposely attempting to elude apprehension by moving from one location to another. Detectives received information that Hunter fled to New Jersey.
Detectives enlisted the assistance of the U.S. Marshal's Fugitive Task Force who tracked down Hunter at a home in East Orange, New Jersey.
Hunter is currently being extradited back to South Carolina where he will face charges for Criminal Sexual Conduct with a Minor Second Degree in Sumter.
Additionally, Sumter police and Sumter County sheriff's office investigators intend to question Hunter as a person of interest in the 2012 disappearance and murder of 18-year-old Aaron Abraham.
Abraham was reported missing in July 2012 when he failed to return home from the Sumter County Library. Abraham's body was found on the side of Highway 261 near Wedgefield, South Carolina several weeks later.
Sumter police continue to encourage anyone with information regarding the murder of Aaron Abraham to contact police.
