WEST COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - Authorities with the FBI in South Carolina are taking part in a program to celebrate Black History Month.

Special Agent In Charge David Thomas and other officials from the Federal Bureau of Investigation's Columbia office are taking part in an event Wednesday at Brookland Baptist Church in West Columbia.

The theme for this year's presentation is "At the Crossroads of Freedom and Equality: the Emancipation Proclamation and the March on Washington." Organizers say Millicent Brown, a history and sociology professor at Claflin University, is scheduled to speak.
