Myrtle Beach's mayor and representatives from Horry County and its airports will be joined by the owner of a company that puts on air shows Wednesday, for what's being called an announcement of a "major event" coming to the Myrtle Beach area.
Someone with knowledge of the project confirmed to WPDE NewsChannel 15 that the announcement is about an air show coming to Myrtle Beach.
Last week, Horry County Council approved $80,000 to spend on advertising to bring more people to the Grand Strand for an air show. It was expected to be held on June 29.
Councilman Brent Shulz is heading this project, and he's one of the people expected at the announcement.
He'll be joined by Myrtle Beach Mayor John Rhodes, the director of Horry County Airports and George Cline, of Air Boss, Inc.
Air Boss, Inc., according to its website, is a company that produces air shows.
The air show is expected to include the United States Air Force Thunderbirds. According to their website, they will be in Myrtle Beach on June 29.
