Myrtle Beach International Airport will be adding more than 50,000 arriving seats between January and June of this year.
Between the months of January and June, 52,585 arriving seats and 715 arriving flights will be added at Myrtle Beach International Airport. This compared to the same period in 2012, up 12% and 16% respectively.
"The 2013, year is shaping up to be a strong year for the airport. The addition of new markets and increased available seat capacity by incumbent carriers shows the strength of the Myrtle Beach brand," said Michael La Pier, Director of Airports.
Below is a list of the new services that will be added:
• Allegiant Air (G4) resumed nonstop service to Allentown (ABE), Fort Wayne (FWA), Ashland (HTS) and Youngstown (YNG) - May 3, 2013.
• Delta Air Lines (DL) added seasonal nonstop service to Boston (BOS) - June 2013.
• Porter (PD) increased to 5x weekly nonstop arrivals from Toronto City Centre (YTZ) - March 2013.
• Spirit Airlines introduced new nonstop service to Baltimore/Washington (BWI) and Philadelphia (PHL) - both markets start April 25, 2013; resume service from Chicago O'Hare (ORD), Detroit (DTW), Pittsburgh/Latrobe (LBE), Buffalo/Niagara (IGA) and Charleston (CRW) several months earlier than previous years; during peak season Spirit is reducing the use of smaller A319 aircraft and replacing it with larger A320.
• US Airways increases weekly arrivals from Washington Reagan (DCA) and Philadelphia (PHL)- DCA is increasing Feb 1, 2013 (7x weekly) and PHL is increasing in March 2013 (4x weekly), April (11x week).
