A North Myrtle Beach man is headed to New Orleans after winning a sandwich shop franchise's Super Bowl contest.
William Markle won Jersey Mike's Super Sub Sweeps and will attend the 47th Super Bowl.
"It came as a complete surprise and it took a couple of hours to sink in that I had won a trip to the Super Bowl," said Markle, "Most of all I look forward to taking in the whole atmosphere of going to the game and the events for fans that are related to the Super Bowl."
Markle won two tickets to Sunday's game along with airfare and a hotel stay for four days.
He won out of thousands of entries, according to Jersey Mike's.
With his wife unable to get away, Markle asked a long time friend and old college buddy to join him. "My friend and I went to New Orleans a couple of times in our younger days over 30 years ago," he said. "I am sure we will bring back many more great memories this time, although I am sure it will be a much different experience from a middle aged perspective!"
This will be the first NFL game Markle has ever attended.
"I look forward to seeing Colin Kaepernick quarterbacking for the 49ers as well as Ray Lewis's last pro game for the Ravens," he said.
Markle's favorite Jersey Mike's Sub is the #43, Chipotle Cheese Steak, according to the press release.
Super Bowl tickets that are remaining cost between $1500-$7300, according to NFL Ticket Exchange.
