Fewer passengers at Myrtle Beach International

The number of people getting on planes at Myrtle Beach International Airport in December 2012 was down 6.54 percent compared to December 2011.

US Airways passenger volumes were up 7.1 percent compared to same period last year.

United Airlines and Spirit Airlines passengers were down, 9.2 percent and 7.3 percent respectively.

Overall, 740,457 people got on planes at the airport in 2012. In 2011, 878,180 passengers flew out of Myrtle Beach.

The airport lost low-cost carrier Direct Air in March, which carried 92,502 passengers from Myrtle Beach in 2011.
