Highway Patrol is working a nine car pileup on Highway 52 at McCutcheon Road near Kingstree.

Three people were taken to the hospital for minor injuries.

Eight cars and a tractor trailer collided just after 7:30 Tuesday morning, according to Williamsburg County Fire Chief Randy Swinton.

Officials shutdown a portion of the highway as crews worked to clear the cars from the road.

The road has since been reopened. Firefighters say it appears that the fog is to blame.

No word on if anyone has been charged in the accident.
