CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - Candidates have just a few more hours to file to run for an open South Carolina congressional seat.

The filing deadline is at noon Monday in the 1st District race along the state's south coast.

Thirteen Republicans and three Democrats have entered the race to fill the vacancy left when former congressman Tim Scott was appointed to the U.S. Senate.

Four sitting state lawmakers and former Gov. Mark Sanford, who is trying to make a political comeback, are among the Republicans seeking the seat. Teddy Turner, the son of Ted Turner, is also running for the GOP nomination.

The Democrats include Elizabeth Colbert-Busch, the sister of comedian and Charleston native Stephen Colbert.

The party primaries are March 19.
