Flames could be seen coming from the roof of a home on Carriage Lane in South Florence Friday night.

The fire started just before 8 p.m.

Two people were inside, but they managed to get out and call 911. Florence firefighters say smoke detectors alerted the residents to the fire, which started in a rear exterior porch area.

Florence Police directed traffic around the fire until crews were able to get it contained and under control.

A cause of the fire has not been released.
