Jaquell Antonio McCullum, 20, will be tried April 15 for the murder of Michael Hawkins, 49.

McCullum was arrested along with Lakavis Harrison, 26, Jacob Keith, 18 and a 15-year-old boy in Hawkins' murder last January.

Officers say they forced their way into Hawkins home on Harmony Street and shot and killed him.

McCullum appeared in court for a bond hearing Wednesday afternoon.

Twelfth Circuit Solicitor Ed Clements says his bond was denied and he will stay in jail until his trial.

Hawkins worked with the Florence Police Department's Camp Fever Program, Alliance For Youth, East Florence Community Organization, Florence Parade Committee, and the Levy Park Youth Activity Center.

He was also a coach in the Florence City Recreational Basketball League for many years.
