FORT JACKSON, S.C. (AP) - The commanding general at the Army's largest training installation wants the public to get a close-up look at how soldiers live and train for combat.

Fort Jackson's Brig. Gen. Bryan Roberts says he is hosting a six-hour tour next month. The tour includes seeing how soldiers train in the field, where they "chow down" in a dining facility and how they learn to shoot with an M-16 simulator.

Visitors may also attend the installation's Basic Combat Training graduation, which comes at the end of soldiers' 10 weeks of training.

Those who are interested in attending must reserve a spot by calling Fort Jackson Community Relations at 803-751-1474. The cost of lunch is $4.60.
