Helping Hand's offices were closed Friday due to flooding.

Officials say a valve on a toilet broke Thursday night, causing water to overflow.

The damage was mostly limited to the carpet and other flooring.

A cleaning crew was brought in to vacuum up the water and dry out the carpet.

Officials say the closing caused a hardship to those who needed assistance and were not able to get it Friday, but the office should be back open on Monday.

According to the group's website, Helping Hand provides food, rent and utility assistance, gasoline, local and long distance bus tickets, prescription medications, diapers, and more to people who need help.
