Judge Edward Cottingham sentenced Marquis Evans to three years in the State Department of Corrections for Receiving Stolen Goods, value $2,000 to $10,000.

Prosecutors say Evans stole about $13,000 worth of equipment from a North Carolina welding supply store on June 24, 2011.

He posted the items on the website Craigslist.

Police set up an undercover sting and Evans brought the merchandise to Conway to sell it.

He had some of the equipment with him, some with serial numbers removed, when police arrested him July 13, 2011.

He was tried Thursday in Horry County.
