Hartsville Mayor Mel Pennington says Hampton Inn is expected to build a four-story facility at the corner of Carolina Avenue and Fourth Street.
Groundbreaking should begin in February with the hotel being finished by December.
Pennington says the hotel project is something they've been working on for seven years.
"It's kind of a culmination of a seven year project we've been working really hard on. Hartsville has some wonderful things to offer and they're some investors that really get that," said Pennington.
The $7 million dollar investment will provide steady employment for about a dozen people, according to Pennington.
It's also expected to improve economic development in the downtown community.
"It's a neat opportunity for us . We see a lot of shrinkage. A lot of people go to Florence to book rooms because we don't have the capacity for a Class A Hotel. Now we're gonna have that offering and it's going to be in the heart an soul of downtown."
Hartsville City Council still has to approve final reading on the hotel project next week, but it's expected to pass.
