One person died and another was taken to the hospital after two cars collided in Dillon County Tuesday afternoon.

A car was leaving a driveway, failed to yield the right of way and was hit by a Ford pick-up truck on Harlee's Bridge Road around 12:15 p.m. Tuesday, according to South Carolina Highway Patrol.

According to Dillon County Coroner Donnie Grimsley, the driver of the car, James Edwards Alford, 64, was killed and the passenger was taken to the hospital.

The driver of the pick up was unharmed.

The wreck is still under investigation, but no charges are expected.
